How Does It Work: Environment & Sustainability

Every move, collection, and disposal process at Ace IT Relocation is designed to minimise waste, conserve resources, and prove measurable environmental performance. The IT industry generates over 50 million tonnes of e-waste every year — equivalent to throwing away 1,000 laptops every second — and only around 17% is properly documented as recycled

WASTE REDUCTION

Reusing a single laptop saves over 300 kg of CO₂, roughly equivalent to a 1,000-mile car journey.

E-WASTE GROWTH

Global e-waste reached 62 million tonnes in 2024 (United Nations University report), yet only 17.4% was recycled through verified systems.

LIFESPAN SAVINGS

Extending server lifespan by one year can cut lifecycle emissions by up to 20%.

PC REFRESH CYCLES

The average UK office PC fleet renewal cycle (3 years) generates over 400 kg of waste metals and plastics per 100 devices.

CIRCULAR MODELS

The average UK office PC fleet renewal cycle (3 years) generates over 400 kg of waste metals and plastics per 100 devices.

The UK's IT Waste Statistics

In the UK alone, electronic waste now represents over 1.4 million tonnes annually, and improper disposal remains one of the fastest-growing environmental risks for businesses. We believe sustainability starts with process discipline: reuse before recycle, track before transport, measure before claim.

Every move rises or falls on the quality of its tooling, handling, Our engineers arrive with a curated kit built for data-centre reality. Everything is tracked, counted, and photographed into the runbook so what leaves source arrives at destination in the same condition.

Processing Plan
At every stage of the asset lifecycle, we prioritise reuse and recovery over destruction. Equipment collected for disposal is automatically assessed for reuse, refurbishment, or component harvesting before any recycling occurs.
Raw Material Savings
On average each tonne of hardware successfully redeployed avoids roughly 15 tonnes of raw material extraction — aluminium, copper, plastics, and rare earth metals that would otherwise require new mining.
Material Sorting
All non-reusable materials are separated into metal, plastic, PCB (printed circuit board), and glass fractions for certified recovery. Transport is one of the largest contributors to emissions in IT relocation.
Environment Act
We operate under the UK’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Environmental Protection Acts, using only Environment Agency-licensed recycling partners.
What We Do
We mitigate this through route optimisation, load consolidation, and low-emission vehicle selection. Our air-ride fleet includes Euro 6-compliant vans and trucks.

Want to find out more?

We view sustainability as a shared responsibility between our teams, clients, and partners. Whether it’s optimising routes, re-using hardware, or closing material loops, every small improvement compounds across hundreds of projects each year. Through transparent reporting and real-world impact measurement, Ace IT Relocation helps clients turn compliance into tangible environmental progress — proving that greener operations can also mean leaner, faster, and more resilient business.
