After the commission of its new data centre, the client needed to relocate servers, network, racks and telephony equipment from one of its old data centres.
Our team arrived on site before the scheduled time to ensure that all the equipment was labeled and our equipment was ready for the move. As a number of the racks had to be physically moved to the new destination we had to co-ordinate our work with the clients electrician who had the task of disconnecting the hard wired UPS devices in the racks before they could be moved.
The devices were de-commissioned, removed from the racks along with the mounting rails and packed in anti-static bubble wrap into our flight cases. The devices were checked off against the clients list to ensure that we could track which servers were in which cases.
Once the servers were packed the racks were the last items to be moved and everything was loaded onto the vehicles.
At the destination our project manager checked each device off and directed the engineers to the correct rack locations where the servers were re-racked and handed over to the client for re-commissioning.
The project was completed sucessfully on time, even with some devices being added to the project at the last minute .
