Server and Trader IT Relocation
Due to expansion, our client, a successful equity derivatives broker, needed to move to larger offices . The IT equipment, comprising of 60 trader desks, plus a rack of servers and switches were required to be decommissioned, transported and recommissioned. The complex, and individual setup of the trader desks meant special care and attention was required to ensure each environment was re-commissioned in exactly the same configuration and layout so staff could begin work first thing Monday morning without disruption.
Working alongside our client, on the friday night, we de-commissioned and packed the trader desktops. All connections had been pre labelled and each environment was accompanied by a photograph of the original layout to ensure the re-commission at the new office was straight forward. The crates were transported to the new office that night. On Saturday our engineers assisted re-commissioning of the desktops. Once we had confirmation that the server backups had finished we de-racked the servers, transported them in our flight cases and re-racked them in the new server room. This allowed the clients team the rest of the weekend to test the whole environment.
The relocation was a success, completed both to schedule and to budget.
